We are a family owned company, founded by Dan Strauss, who has been in

the building business for over 50 years. Dan's father, Ben Strauss; was a

'master carpenter' so it only seemed natural that when Dan returned home

after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, he would follow in his fathers

footsteps, pick-up a hammer and begin his building career as a journeyman

carpenter. Dan eventually worked his way through the system and was vice

president of one of the areas largest home building company's before

starting his own business in 1976. Dan's oldest son, Randy. joined him in

1979 after receiving a bachelor's degree in Construction Management from

Michigan State University, and the company is rounded out by youngest son, Tim, a journeyman carpenter specializing in custom interiors and

supervising the construction team.

 

We take a unique approach to both building and designing your home. We

meet numerous times, one-on-one with all of our clients to help select the

design, the finishes and all other characteristics that will make their home

(and your home) unique and special. We believe only in energy efficient

homes built to the highest quality standards. We do not compromise our

standards just to make sales and our customers have and will testify that

building a Strauss Home is not only rewarding, but fun too! Why should

anyone building a home and spending such a large amount of money not

expect to thoroughly enjoy the entire process?

 

Since its beginning, over 30 years ago, Strauss Construction has built over

400 apartments, 90 condominiums, numerous office buildings, medical

offices, strip centers, private clubs and industrial buildings in Amherst,

Vermilion, Lorain, Elyria, Huron, Sandusky, Port Clinton, Marblehead,

Oberlin and Norwalk.

 

However, the Strauss Family's greatest pride lies with our ability to custom build single family homes, providing the absolute

highest quality available at a price that is reasonable. This concept has provided over 140 single family home buyers with the best

possible value.

 

We typically limit our annual home production to less than 10 houses, more

or less, depending upon the size of the homes. We specialize in homes

ranging in size from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet, but have built homes as

small as 1,600 square feet and as large as 9,000 square feet.

Dan and Randy Strauss are both lifetime directors and past presidents of the

North Coast Building Industries Association and both were inducted to that

association's Hall of Fame in 2001. Furthermore, both men have served as

president of the 8,000 member Ohio Home Builders Association located in

Columbus, Ohio.

 

One last point regarding the family business is Dan's wife, Randy and

Tim's mother Jane Strauss. If you call or stop at the office, the first person

you are likely to talk to is Jane, as she serves as receptionist, secretary, book keeper and every other job that needs to be done.

Pride runs exceptionally high in the Strauss family and is evidenced by the

homes that we build, thus our mottos, "Proudly Built By Strauss
